MJ, Yoshke and Issa somewhere along Baywalk

I was starting to complain about my Saturdays. It slowly got boring and everything sort of became a part of a routine. Though I’m glad I was able to make new friends (Helen, Shiena, Miel, Luke) and basically we have the same interests, my Saturdays never really reached the “exciting” level. It was always “just fun,” and “ok.” Not that there’s something wrong with my new friends. I’m just not used to going to school on a Saturday, and you know, school days are routine days. Flashback to two years ago when I would always go to Tagaytay to breakaway and wind down, or just do something new or different after a week of university hell. Pfffft.

But yesterday was a different Saturday. Although I didn’t intend to, I was able to break the cycle. I woke up at 7:30 and found Helen’s SMS message telling me that she was sooo lazy she won’t be coming to class. And since sloth is really doing its best climbing up my Seven Deadly Sins Chart, I decided, “What the heck?! Helen is not coming to class, and since the topic this morning might be the most boring subject Father Time has ever seen, I might as well not show up.” And I didn’t. Hehe. I slept again, woke up at 10, stepped into cyberspace, and found that my site was down, and did a little repairing. It was my first time to snob a Foreign Service class. Ahehehe.

However, I attended the afternoon sessions. But it was sooo irksome. Boring topic. Boring lecturer. Non-air-conditioned classroom. So to fight the magnificent force of drowsiness, all Helen and I did was talk about anime, Japanese culture, and her future travel and business plans. The first afternoon session was dismissed 90 minutes earlier than the usual time so I stormed out of the room and continued fixing my incredibly beautiful blog (ahehehehe). Went back to the university for the second session, got dismissed at 6pm. I decided to meet up with Macey and her sister Tin (who looks like Jamilla of PBB Teen Edition/FHM covergirl), MJ, Issa, and Carrie-sensei and join them in Malate.

Hmmm. Malate. Ahehehe. It was my first time in Malate last night. (I’m a Greenbelt / Ortigas / QC guy.) And yeah, like what Dohna said months ago, “You’re non-straight, and you’re in Malate. How redundant can you get?” But like I told Bebs and Lei, I was there for a little get-together with my former workmates. Not for sex. It was actually THAT notion that kept me from going to Malate for the longest time. I was there for a decent, happy, “safe” night.

We stayed at the Legend Bar for three hours. There was a live rock band (Kaktooz). Though I can’t say they’re a great band, they sure have a good taste. All the songs they played are my favorite songs, so I was just singing with them the whole time, gorging on nachos and tofu, and filling my belly up with beer. Lots of it. But it got boring after a while and we decided to just find another place — one with less noise. So we moved to Porky’s where an acoustic band was performing and stayed there until 2:30am. The best part of the night was when the band called on Issa, sitting beside me, to join them sing a tagalog song. Damn, I didn’t know that Isa was such a great singer. I was sooo proud.

It maybe not that great a night but it is unusual. And right now, ’unusual’ is a good thing.
