Status: My eyes are in pain

It’s been a crazy week. And everything’s driving me crazy. But first, I would like to apologise for my unannounced week-long hiatus. I have a pretty good explanation.
Last Friday morning, I woke up and realised that my left eye was sore. And it was itchy. And teary. And sooo red. And it dawned on me: OH.MY.GOD! I got a “sore eye,” or pinkeye or bloodshot eye! What’s the medical term? Aha! Conjunctivitis. Whatever. And that simple realisation marked the beginning of a terrible week for me. The next day, both my eyes were infected. (I’ll be posting pictures soon. Hehehe). I officially became a walking viral infection.
“Pain, I can stand. But not shame.” This was my mantra since Friday. And because of this, I never stepped outside my apartment. I hate being looked at by people disgusted by the terror I bring with me. One look and I know, they want me away from them. So I just stayed inside, waiting for everything to come to me. I had my meals delivered (KFC, McDonald’s, etc) for the entire week. Except when Frances and Asta came over to visit; they brought lunches. Kuya Tops also took care of me. Thanks!
But what’s driving me really crazy is not this pinkeye, which is more red than pink actually, hehehe. It’s nature. Yes. Mother Nature is driving me mad. Imagine, for the first time in almost a century, the people of Buenos Aires, Argentina saw a real snowfall. And a friend in Targovishte, Bulgaria was complaining about the 45 degrees Celcius temperature in his country — he claimed, it was the highest in their recorded history.
And I didn’t have to look far to actually see Mother Nature’s indeed out of her mind. Here in the Philippines, at this time of the year, people usually complain because of endless storms. Typhoons come like they’re having a festival here in this country. At this time of the year, people should already be complaining about the 13th typhoon of the year. About landslides. About flashfloods. But this year, people are complaining because typhoons seem to have avoided this country. And the effects — drought. We’ve only had three typhoons this year. And it’s weird. Very. So now, we fear water shortage.
But some parts of the country are soaked. Flooded, actually.
Hog cholera ruined the reputation of the pigs from Bulacan. And suddenly, I became hesitant to eat pork.
A tornado destroyed two towns in Pampanga.
Mt. Bulusan had a blast, covering the province with volcanic ash.
And it hailed in Baguio City. Wow. Hailstorm. That’s really something. That’s crazy. We’re a freaking tropical country. People would expect to see manna falling from the skies, but not ice. But Mother Nature, if ever you’re reading my blog, know that we prefer snow. Hail is a little… violent.
Oh well, my eyes are hurting again now. So I guess I better split.

lol, I’ve never had pink eye myself, but I’ve had at least two friends that did. And let me tell you, it IS scary seeing their eye(s)! They were extremely bloodshot red. It was scary. Not only that, but pink eye is extremely contagious, so it’s a good thing you kept inside
Yeah, it always seems like there’s always something to complain about. Here in Cali, USA the weather is very nice, but like I said there’s always something to complain about. It’s not normal for it to rain in the summer, but last year it did a lot so we all complained about that. And this summer there’s no rain but we’ve been having many fires lately (so much dryness). Haha, so there’s always something to complain about. BTW my bf is from the Philippines! haha, random.
The weather’s getting all sorts of messed up. And good luck with your pinkeye, I hope you went & got some antibiotics. Once you start treating it, it’s not contagious.

This is not the first time that it hailed in Baguio. It happened before sometime in the late 90′s (1997?). So it looks like this happens every 10 years…
