50th Grammy, Baby

Status: Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone.
Music: Crush – Paramore

It’s Grammy Awards season once again. Although the Grammy never fails to disappoint me every year, I don’t understand why I still get excited when they reveal the list of nominees. Hmmm. Last year, I wanted Mary J. Blige to win the Record of the Year award for Be Without You but it was handed to the Dixie Chicks instead. I love the country trio; they deserved the Song of the Year award and all the others but Record of the Year really should have been Mary’s. Tsk tsk.

Anyway, this year, Kanye West leads the pack again with eight nominations, followed by Amy Winehouse with six. I like them both but it’s just “like.” I don’t go ga-ga over them, no. Here are the nominees for some of the awards together with my predictions:

i was actually surprised with plain white T’s nomination. i so so love hey there delilah, it’s very anticlimactic of spektor’s samson, don’t you think? :)

my other loves: alicia keys’ no one and corinne bailey rae’s like a star (heard it over at grey’s and it’s stuck with me like, er, whatever)..

and you wouldn’t want to hear my reaction re christina. especially when my recent post includes the great britney in it.

    merry christmas yoshke! :D

    • Yoshke

yeah, ako rin. surprised sa Plain White Ts nomination. pero ahlavet.

Hindi ko pa narinig ang Like a Star. Waaah.

Ok, yung violent reaction mo ke Aguilera, keep it to yourself. haha

    • Yoshke

napakinggan ko na Like a Star. HAAAANGANDA!!!

  2. Jonats

Ayos to ah, daig pa ang E! Review ng grammy.

anyway, amen to your predictions (either that, or its just really easy to spot the winners this year) and on Rihanna’s “Umbrella” being a being a future classic. The renditions happen just left and right.

i didn’t know JM’s “Belief” would make it to the cut. He’s bagged 2 grammy’s na kaya last year for Continuum!

    • Yoshke

uy, jonats, napadpad ka. oh yeah, umbrella. love, love, love.

TRUE! yung kay John Mayer, pasok pa pala yun. Pati nga Before He Cheats at Irreplaceable eh, akala ko last year nakasama.

  3. Chuy

Ditto!! It’s like my version of Superbowl. My friend and I discuss Grammy nominees as if they have stats like in football and basketball and predict their probability of winning. It’s crazy! hahaha!! Thanks for the info, I’ll look into this and will give you my predictions as well.

    • Yoshke

haha, pareho tayo. ga-ga over grammys. hihi

  4. ayn

I want Feist to win in the categories she’s nominated. pero malabo dahil kalaban niya si Amy Winehouse, who’s probably the fave to win.

  5. Yoshke

haha. true, natatakot din ako ke Amy Winehouse. Waaah, isa lang yung alam kong song ni Feist eh. yung parang pang-kinder, joke.

  6. Lalon

Many of your predictions did win (well, it’s kinda easy to predict who’ll win if you’re quite aware of what typically, is liked by the jurors ^^,).

I love Amy Winehouse and I think her 5 Grammy Awards nabs are well-deserved. Hope she gets well soon. :P

    PS.

I was kinda expecting Christina to win too, or at least see her perform on stage. Oh well, hehe. :P

Status: She's Mrs. Extra Extra, this just in. Music: Piece of Me - Britney Spears [youtube DgrNOz76Bm0] The other night, my college friends and I were talking about how delightful Piece of Me was. I like Britney Spears (although I still like Christina Aguilera and a whole bunch of other performers better than her). And it's nice that she's slowly ...
