3. David Archuleta | With You

Round 3 (Producers)
1. David Cook | I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing
2. Syesha Mercado | Hit Me Up
3. David Archuleta | Longer

If performances tonight were the only basis, Syesha could (and should) make it to the finals. But nah, it’s gonna be a “Battle of the Davids” finale.

ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME NIGHT

1. David Archuleta | Stand By Me
2. David Cook | Hungry Like the Wolf

4. Jason Castro | I Shot the Sheriff — ELIMINATED

2. David Cook | Baba O’Riley
3. Syesha Mercado | A Change is Gonna Come
1. Jason Castro | Mr. Tambourine Man — ELIMINATED

2. Brooke White | I am… I Said — ELIMINATED

4. David Archuleta | America
5. Jason Castro | September Morn

Jason should’ve gotten the boot. ‘Nuff said.
And oh, was Paula Abdul HIGH?

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER NIGHT

My Top 3
1. David Cook | The Music of the Night (The Phantom of the Opera)
2. Syesha Mercado | One Rock & Roll Too Many (Starlight Expess)
3. David Archuleta | Think of Me (The Phantom of the Opera)

My Bottom 3
4. Carly Smithson | Superstar (Jesus Christ Superstar) ELIMINATED!
5. Jason Castro | Memory (Cats)
6. Brooke White | You Must Love Me (Evita)

Brooke definitely performed better than Jason but I was just disappointed when she had to go from the top again. She or Jason should have gone home. Not Carly.

Top 7: MARIAH CAREY WEEK

I was still not over Ramiele and Michael being eliminated but I was sooo excited to see this week’s episode of Idol. I love Mariah Carey and her music, and I was too curious to see David Cook and Jason Castro perform given that the theme is sooo girly pop. I was expecting they would blow me away. And boy, was I blown away. Here’s what I have to say.

1. David Cook | Always Be My Baby
I was in tears. David is officially my all-time favorite Idol contestant (beating Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson). Although back in the semi-finals, I wasn’t that much of a “fan,” he abruptly overshadowed Michael Johns, Ramiele Malubay, Brooke White and David Archuleta in my world. Now, he’s THE ONE. He should win. Always Be My Baby has a special meaning to me and his version is just so wonderful and moving.

2. Syesha Mercado | Vanishing
Finally, I felt some emotions coming from this girl. It was fantastic. But I bet she’ll still be in the bottom three tomorrow.

3. Jason Castro | I Don’t Wanna Cry
I agree with Simon Cowell. He spoke everything I was feeling when watching Jason. I don’t really like Jason but his performance was great.

4. David Archuleta | When You Believe
Poor song choice but hey, the guy can really sing. It wasn’t something that I would remember years from now but it was good. Still, a bit boring.

MY BOTTOM 3

5. Carly Smithson | Without You
I was expecting she would deliver a jaw-dropping performance. She didn’t. I was disappointed. She’s good vocally but there’s also something that is lacking in her. I don’t know what it is. I’m starting to like her but her weeks are numbered.

6. Kristy Lee Cook | Forever — ELIMINATED!!!
This is one of my favorite Mariah songs so I was, like, “Whaaat? She’s gonna sing it?” But oooh boy, I liked her performance. However, she struggled so much reaching the high notes and it showed big time. But it was still good. The problem is, compared to most of the performances this week, hers was still weak.

7. Brooke White | Hero
I love you, Brooke, but I didn’t enjoy it at all.

MICHAEL GETS THE BOOT

American Idol delivers its first shocker of the season when Aussie native Michael Johns gets the boot. BOO! BOO! BOOOOO! I love Michael. It feels so much worse than what I felt when Ramiele Malubay was eliminated. Ramiele somehow deserved it. But Michael… My Michael… Wuuu. It’s a mistake. America got it wrong. Either Syesha Mercado or Carly Smithson should have gone home. What is more annoying is that I will still see Kristy Lee Cook’s face next week and wonder how come she’s still there when my Michael isn’t. I know he’s not gonna win this thing but it’s just too early for him to leave. Pffft.

Anyway, I admire Michael for taking it like a real man. He handled it with class and he performed his exit song really well, proving everyone that they got it all wrong. I know Michael has a great career ahead of him.

I’m expecting a David-vs-David finale anyway. Love the two Davids. But gaawd, I’m soo gonna miss Michael. Wuuuu.

INSPIRATIONAL NIGHT
I just wish Ramiele were still on the show. She would’ve done a fantastic job given this theme. But hey, yeah, it was kinda tiring waiting for Ramiele’s magical moment to come every week when she failed to give me one every time she was on the stage. Haaaaay.

My Top 3
1. David Archuleta | Angels
2. Jason Castro | Somewhere Over the Rainbow
3. David Cook | Innocent

My Bottom 3

6. Syesha Mercado | I Believe
- My dear, you should’ve learned from LaKisha last season. No matter how much you think you could pull it off, never sing an Idol song or you’ll really get compared. Vocally, it was really good but the problem with Syesha is that she lacks emotions TREMENDOUSLY when singing. You gotta feel it, babe.

7. Carly Smithson | The Show Must Go On
- Carly might be the one leaving tomorrow night. I agree with Simon. She oversang it and lost control.

8. Kristy Lee Cook | Anyway
- I don’t know what the rave was about but Kristy didn’t do ANYTHING new to the song. She just sang it the way Martina did. Yes, the performance is good but it is nowhere near the other contestants’. But Kristy, you’re pretty.

Additional notes: It was only Archuleta that blew me away this week. Even Jason did not really do anything new to Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of the song (which is my fave) but his performance was really good and heartfelt. Brooke and David were kinda lame tonight but certainly not the worsts.

DOLLY PARTON NIGHT

My Top 3
1. Michael Johns | It’s All Wrong But It’s All Right
2. David Archuleta | Smokey Mountain Memories
3. Carly Smithson | Here You Come Again

My Bottom 3
7. Syesha Mercado | I Will Always Love You <<< vocally impressive. but still, emotionally empty.
8. Ramiele Malubay | Do I Ever Cross Your Mind <<< Ramiele, dear, what have you been doing? You have a huge voice but you keep on picking the wrong song. Tsk tsk... ELIMINATED.
9. Kristy Lee Cook | Coat of Many Colors <<< You go, girl! As in, go home!
...

BIRTH YEAR NIGHT

My Top 3
1. David Cook | Billie Jean
2. Michael Johns | We Will Rock You, We are the Champions
3. Syesha Mercado | If I was Your Woman

My Bottom 3
8. Ramiele Malubay | Alone
9. Chikezie | If Only for One Night <<< Eliminated
10. Kristy Lee Cook | God Bless the USA <<< Give it up, Kristy! You really have to go. But clever song choice. Now you have the patriotic votes. Tsk tsk…

THE BEATLES NIGHT

My Top 3
1. Syesha Mercado | Yesterday
2. David Archuleta | The Long and Winding Road
3. David Cook | Day Tripper

My Bottom 3
9. Jason Castro | Michelle
10. Chikezie | I’ve Just Seen a Face
11. Brooke White | Here Comes the Sun <<< You know I love you, Brooke, but…

I actually liked Kristy Lee Cook’s performance this week. Hehehe. I hope Chikezie gets the boot.

Eliminated: Amanda Overmyer

JOHN LENNON - PAUL MCCARTNEY NIGHT

My Top 3
1. Brooke White | Let It Be
2. (tied) Carly Smithson | Come Together
2. (tied) Amanda Overmyer | You Can’t Do That
3. David Cook | Eleanor Rigby

My Bottom 3
10. David Hernandez | I Saw Her Standing ThereEliminated
11. Kristy Lee Cook | Eight Days a Week
12. David Archuleta | We Can Work it Out <<< You know I love you, David, but…

nakakabitin kaya si brooke with her version of let it be. she looked restricted because of the piano. across the universe version pa rin! hehe. i still love her though.

i just dont get amanda and david cook… overrated.

2008-04-01 07:22:41

i don’t think david and amanda are overrated. ehehe. sila nga yung dark horse. magaling naman talaga sila eh.

After Chikezie, I want to see Carly go home next. She’s good but i just don’t like her… Syesha doesn’t have the likeability factor either, but i like her more than Carly.

2008-04-01 07:24:08

ako rin, i don’t like carly. vocally, she’s amazing but i just don’t feel her. when she sings, there’s no emotion. maybe it’s just me.

demmet. super devastated now that ramiele went bye-bye. wish we could get her back-back. aaaarrrggghhh… i don’t have a favorite now. :c

2008-04-08 13:25:33

ako rin. pero sya kasi eh. ANG ENGOT NG SONG CHOICES NYA EH. hmph.

2008-04-11 18:53:52

i really don’t get it when you say syesha tremendously lacks emotions. between jason and syesha? jason’s more heartfelt? oh. come. on. he just made a run through of somewhere over the rainbow!

2008-04-11 19:25:28

i knew someone’s gonna bring this up. it wasnt just a run through. it was a more optimistic take on Over the Rainbow as Israel Kamakawiwo’ole interpreted it. despite that, he still changed a number of things. im not a jason fan, i want him out next after Kristy.

Syesha just lacks emotions REALLY. she’s your usual biritera. i always say na vocally amazing si syesha pero wala talaga syang emotional connection sa song parati, except nung Yesterday siguro.

2008-04-12 17:13:29

in fairness kay jason, consistent siya sa kanyang niche. he knows what type of artist he is… the laidback singersongwriter type. i like the guy hehe.

Syesha, meron pang one other song na heartfelt ang performance nya.. yung If I Was Your Woman. the others were, as you said, zero connection. biritera pero walang laman.

Kristy Lee Cook… long overdue na yan.

Carly… she’s singing Ken Lee next week according to rumors.

David vs. David… that’s what i predicted back in January hehehe

Brooke… love her.

Michael… waaaaaah! why’d he have to get eliminated!?!? i feel your loss, Yoshke.

– and even Yesterday, I didn’t like. She’s whiny. Her voice pierces… my ears. Haha!

I don’t even care about emotions anymore at this point. Just sing the songs well! I appreciate the whole singer-songwriter-artist angle that this season boasts of, but c’mon… they aren’t actually singing their own songs are they? So I don’t buy that excuse for faulty vocals one bit. [ehem, Jason-Brooke-(and to some extent) Johns, ehem]. On the other hand, the big SINGERS on the competition have been mostly underwhelming as well, so the season’s starting to suck for me now. Haha! Cook’s my saving grace for this season. Strangely, he’s been the most consistent vocally and creatively, which was really unexpected.

Haha. Haba. Eto, pambawi — I love you ES! Hahaha! Asan ka na?

i still believe, though, that this is THE BEST season. ang diverse lang nila at may kanya kanyang niche. I love et.

Magaling talaga si Syesha at Carly. kaya lang, kulang talaga e. Walang sipa yung performances nila. tsk tsk
