ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER NIGHT

My Top 3
1. David Cook | The Music of the Night (The Phantom of the Opera)
2. Syesha Mercado | One Rock & Roll Too Many (Starlight Expess)
3. David Archuleta | Think of Me (The Phantom of the Opera)

My Bottom 3
4. Carly Smithson | Superstar (Jesus Christ Superstar) ELIMINATED!
5. Jason Castro | Memory (Cats)
6. Brooke White | You Must Love Me (Evita)

Brooke definitely performed better than Jason but I was just disappointed when she had to go from the top again. She or Jason should have gone home. Not Carly.

Top 7: MARIAH CAREY WEEK

I was still not over Ramiele and Michael being eliminated but I was sooo excited to see this week’s episode of Idol. I love Mariah Carey and her music, and I was too curious to see David Cook and Jason Castro perform given that the theme is sooo girly pop. I was expecting they would blow me away. And boy, was I blown away. Here’s what I have to say.

1. David Cook | Always Be My Baby
I was in tears. David is officially my all-time favorite Idol contestant (beating Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson). Although back in the semi-finals, I wasn’t that much of a “fan,” he abruptly overshadowed Michael Johns, Ramiele Malubay, Brooke White and David Archuleta in my world. Now, he’s THE ONE. He should win. Always Be My Baby has a special meaning to me and his version is just so wonderful and moving.

2. Syesha Mercado | Vanishing
Finally, I felt some emotions coming from this girl. It was fantastic. But I bet she’ll still be in the bottom three tomorrow.

3. Jason Castro | I Don’t Wanna Cry
I agree with Simon Cowell. He spoke everything I was feeling when watching Jason. I don’t really like Jason but his performance was great.

4. David Archuleta | When You Believe
Poor song choice but hey, the guy can really sing. It wasn’t something that I would remember years from now but it was good. Still, a bit boring.

MY BOTTOM 3

5. Carly Smithson | Without You
I was expecting she would deliver a jaw-dropping performance. She didn’t. I was disappointed. She’s good vocally but there’s also something that is lacking in her. I don’t know what it is. I’m starting to like her but her weeks are numbered.

6. Kristy Lee Cook | Forever — ELIMINATED!!!
This is one of my favorite Mariah songs so I was, like, “Whaaat? She’s gonna sing it?” But oooh boy, I liked her performance. However, she struggled so much reaching the high notes and it showed big time. But it was still good. The problem is, compared to most of the performances this week, hers was still weak.

7. Brooke White | Hero
I love you, Brooke, but I didn’t enjoy it at all.

MICHAEL GETS THE BOOT

American Idol delivers its first shocker of the season when Aussie native Michael Johns gets the boot. BOO! BOO! BOOOOO! I love Michael. It feels so much worse than what I felt when Ramiele Malubay was eliminated. Ramiele somehow deserved it. But Michael… My Michael… Wuuu. It’s a mistake. America got it wrong. Either Syesha Mercado or Carly Smithson should have gone home. What is more annoying is that I will still see Kristy Lee Cook’s face next week and wonder how come she’s still there when my Michael isn’t. I know he’s not gonna win this thing but it’s just too early for him to leave. Pffft.

Anyway, I admire Michael for taking it like a real man. He handled it with class and he performed his exit song really well, proving everyone that they got it all wrong. I know Michael has a great career ahead of him.

I’m expecting a David-vs-David finale anyway. Love the two Davids. But gaawd, I’m soo gonna miss Michael. Wuuuu.

INSPIRATIONAL NIGHT
I just wish Ramiele were still on the show. She would’ve done a fantastic job given this theme. But hey, yeah, it was kinda tiring waiting for Ramiele’s magical moment to come every week when she failed to give me one every time she was on the stage. Haaaaay.

My Top 3
1. David Archuleta | Angels
2. Jason Castro | Somewhere Over the Rainbow
3. David Cook | Innocent

My Bottom 3

6. Syesha Mercado | I Believe
- My dear, you should’ve learned from LaKisha last season. No matter how much you think you could pull it off, never sing an Idol song or you’ll really get compared. Vocally, it was really good but the problem with Syesha is that she lacks emotions TREMENDOUSLY when singing. You gotta feel it, babe.

7. Carly Smithson | The Show Must Go On
- Carly might be the one leaving tomorrow night. I agree with Simon. She oversang it and lost control.

8. Kristy Lee Cook | Anyway
- I don’t know what the rave was about but Kristy didn’t do ANYTHING new to the song. She just sang it the way Martina did. Yes, the performance is good but it is nowhere near the other contestants’. But Kristy, you’re pretty.

Additional notes: It was only Archuleta that blew me away this week. Even Jason did not really do anything new to Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of the song (which is my fave) but his performance was really good and heartfelt. Brooke and David were kinda lame tonight but certainly not the worsts.
