Bioman Who?

I hate it when my friends talk about Bioman. Why? Because I can’t relate. I can’t remember even a single moment I watched Bioman. I don’t know what their powers were and what they could do. I don’t know its theme song, either. I remember Shaider, Ultraman, Koseidon, He-Man, She-Ra, Conan the Barbarian, Maskman, and Power Rangers. But Bioman? Nah. Na-uh. Nadah. Not really.
Funny because my earliest childhood memory was when I was 3 years old. (I’m 22; born 1986.) I remember a lot. As in A LOT. There is a myriad of vivid childhood images that I always play in my head. Sadly, none of those images are Bioman’s. Maybe because I didn’t watch it at all. You see, I’ve always been choosy. Haha.

Another kiddie TV classic that I just can’t remember watching? Batibot. Seriously. I don’t have any emotional connection to the show, Pong Pagong, Kuya Bodjie or Ate whoever-she-was. Every time I try to rummage through my thoughts and search for a bit of any Batibot-related memory, what I always find is ATBP (Awit, Titik, Bilang na Pambata) — Trisha, Rex, Carlo, Tito Miguel (Piolo Pascual), and that ridiculous Kapitan Bilang. No Batibot.
You might be thinking that I missed a great deal of my childhood and how great a loser I was when I was a kid for not watching these programmes. But I think I had a childhood that many would envy. It’s just that TV wasn’t really that fun for me that time. Fun was outdoors. You see, I was a country boy. Haha. Lumaki ako sa lalawigan ng magigiting (Batangas). Less than a mile north of our house are woods and hills; south, a vast field and the beach. TV wasn’t that fun. Fun were the following:
- flying/running kites
- wandering around and playing hide-and-seek in the forest
- climbing trees
- stealing fruits from some farmer’s orchard
- shooting birds with a slingshot (I was cruel as a kid)
- hunting spiders for fights on stick
- catching fireflies and grasshoppers
- catching salagubang (June beetle), cutting its legs one by one, and letting it fly while tied to my wrist
Those were my definition of fun even after I was introduced to Sarah, Cedie, Remi, Julio, Julia, Mary, Romeo, another Remi, Tom, Huck, Cinderella, and the rest of them losers. And then, the magnificent world of violent anime. Haha. Starting with Sailormoon. (Er, okay, violent gay anime. Haha.) Zenki, B’t X and Thunder Jet soon followed. And then, the wacky Mojacko and Doraemon.
And oh, I remember being addicted to Superbook and Flying House. Thanks to my Catholic upbringing.
And yeah, right now I just miss my childhood.

ako naman, i always feel left out pag nagkikwentuhan ang friends ko about that’s entertainment stars. haha. peyborit nila pagtripan yun. wala kaming tv nung bata ako, aware lang ako sa ibang tv shows pag nagbabakasyon dito sa manila. medyo malaki na ko nung nagka tv, black and white pa at dalawang channels lang ata ang kuha. kumusta naman. hehehe.

Then I realised, “Damn, I didn’t know anything about Bioman.” And I was reminded of how OP I always have been when my friends talk about it.

oi pareho tayo i got addicted to flying house and superbook..puro GOD topics kse..i dnt watch batibot..pero nanood ako ng show after and before un.. ung BATMAN tapos THE FRANKENSTEINS..i also watched FRIDAY the 13th series sa channel 9 tapos ung Twilight Zone and Tales from the crypte series…wahaha hence…ayan naging weirdo ako paglake haah

it was my fave… f.y.i., it was the show that came before Shaider’s time slot… i think 4:30-5pm yung bioman tapos 5-5:30pm yung Shaider… ahihihi.
Naku i also watched Superbook and Flying House a lot in the mornings… catching salagubang haha i remember those times… huhuhu i miss my childhood days… things were much easier back then. Thinking about it gets me depressed coz its far off to a long-gone era already. Or maybe I’m just sad the past few days.
Yosh, what about Voltron, Visionaries, Silverhawks, Thundercats… ??? watch any of those? hehe. Carebears? lol

di gaya ngayon kumplikado na at the age of 5 pwersado kana magaral marunong ka naring magtext (yung iba alam na yung scandal scandal na yan) mas madami ka ng alam sa teki world kumpara sa nanay at tatay mo… yung mga less fortunate naman 5 years old malutong na ang P*** alam narin magrap at nakikirambol na sa kalaro…. *sigh*

i also grew up in batangas, but our house is far from the beach. we live near mt. makiling though, so we sometimes go mountain biking on its foot.
i’m also 22 and i remember these shows. but i also remeber bioman and my fondness for it. but my favorite is mask man.
remember how we try to imitate those tricks they do on their strings? and their hand gesticulations that convey their powers? LOL
and i also have not much memory of batibot, but atbp? of course!

Koseidon, Super Book, and the Flying House were my favorites. but, most of the time I spend my childhood days playing, getting dirty and smelly (amoy araw, haha).

ahem, napadaan lang ako dito sa site, and nag enjoy ako basahin mga comments. i guess sobra tanda ko na pala, inabutan ko lahat ng mga sinabi nyo e.
best friend ko din ang tv nun. naaalala ko nun, pag saturday, marathon ang cartoons, from 8 am to 12 nn. sunud sunod na, from flintstone, jetsons, return of the gobots, transformers, justice league (hindi egoy si green lantern). dami pa, di ko na lang matandaan titles.
batibot, un ang kinalakihan ko, magkasunod ang batibot at sesame street nun, if im not mistaken. laki factor nun dalawang un sa aking learning process, hehehehe.
elementary na ako kila bioman, shaider, ultraman, tanda nyo pa ba si mask rider black? ngayon ang pinapanuod na ng anak ko ibang mask rider na e. dito din sa stage na to ko napanood cla cedie, dog of flanders, sarah, etc.
taz sa hapon after school, meron na nickolodeon nun. haaays, dito ko lang nagawang mag flash back ah.
hish school na ata ako sa sine skwela at mathinik e. tanda ko na noh, saka un hiraya manawari wehehehe.

nakalimutan ko pa pala, during my childhood, nun di pa uso ang pre school, inabutan nyo pa ba na nagrrun ang cartoon show ni popeye, garfield, mickey mouse, bugs bunny, etc…..? sad to say pero inabot ko lahat un e. =)
mali pala ko dun sa justice league, di pa un ang title ng show nila superman. “Superfriends” pala un.
