Top 15 Philippine Destinations
I Have Yet to Visit (Part 2)

Wednesday May 20, 2009 14:35   |   9,711 views

Long overdue, I know, I know. Haha. Anyway, here’s the upper half of the list of destinations in the Philippines that I want to (and I should and I WILL) visit sooner or later! Preferably sooner.

And oh, I added three more and made it Top 15 instead. Ehehe. I’m fickle like that.

9. Taal Volcano, Batangas

I’m a proud Batangueno but sadly conquering the Taal Volcano is still a dream. Naunahan pa ako ng mga college friends ko na mapuntahan ‘to. Gaaaaah. Loser me.

8. Zambales

If things would go as planned, I’d be swimming in the waters of Zambales before the third quarter ends… Yipeeeee, I’m excited.

And since Mt. Pinatubo rose from the ashes, it’s starting to become the paradise it used to be — full of color, full of life.  It’s crater is filled with rainwater, too. I have no idea how this deadly volcano looked prior to its bonggang bonggang eruption but something tells me it looks a lot better than before.

7. Caramoan, Camarines Sur

I’ve been to Camarines Sur (and other parts of the Bicol region) before but not in Caramoan. CamSur is starting to become the “it” destination in the country, drawing the attention of locals and foreigners alike. Andami na ring sporting events to get… well, more attention. And man, just look at the pictures above. Magnetic.

6. Guimaras

May oil spill man o wala, pupunta ako ng Guimaras! Sweetest mangoes, here I cooooome!

5. Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

The North’s Boracay. That’s what they call Pagudpud now. Except without the noise, garbage, and violence. Been featured in many international travel magazines. And my sister was so raving about this when she was still residing in Ilocos Norte.

And while in Ilocos, I’ll be paying those giant windmills a visit.

4. Tawi-Tawi and Sulu Archipelago

I was web browsing when I stumbled upon Skyscrapercity.com Forums and found these beautiful pictures of some islands in Tawi-tawi and Sulu.

The southernmost islands of the Philippines have always had a bad reputation — war, kidnappings, violence. But seeing the pictures above, I realized how much of the archipelago’s beauty goes to waste. Look, look. Darn, they’re beautiful.

The Top 3 coming soon. Any guesses? :)

Pasalubong? Haha, sure sure. :P

Taal is like there but yet, getting to the top of that little mountain seems not occur until well into your 20s. I don’t know why that is! be careful of the horsemen, they are very clever! Pagudpud is nice if you go there, I’ll express again to go the 45 minutes north to the Patapat viaduct. Totally worth it.

Ayan me part 2 ka na. Nakapunta na din ako Zambales. (Capones Island)

ang hula ko sa top 3 mo ay:

Palawan, Bohol at Batanes

haha, in order ba yang hula mo? :P

di nako manghuhula sa top 3 mo… pero sigurado ako maganda yan.. ang ganda talaga ng Pilipinas…

Gusto ko na rin tuloy mag Cam Sur!!!

can you be more specific? haha :P

Caramoan is our next stop by next year. The Caramoan picture is actually the Gota Village, the place where we will be staying. :p

Yeah. If I’m not mistaken, he’s a local public official in Bulgaria. Mayor or vice-mayor, methinks.

BTW, I know this dinabaw. I’m member of SkyScraperCity kasi. Coincidence nga naman.:D

Lovely corall islands of Sulu. Loveth. ;)

sana nasa listahan mo rin ang Sarangani. Hehe. Meron kaming Gumasa white sand beaches at South Point Diving Spot. :D

juan

misleading yung pics ng pagudpud, that beach surrounded by limestone is in krabi, thailand

Chabofran

try calaguas island in camarines norte its a paradise indeed!

jowie

I agree with you. especially the Pinagkastilyohan Island.

Anonymous

zambales try the camara island in july there’s a sandbar
pagudpud go for the extra 20+ km you’ll find the blue lagoon so much better

Anonymous

I don’t think number 5 photo is Pagudpud. I’m pretty sure it’s Maya Bay in Thailand. I’ve been there and I’ve seen it. I’ve been to Pagudpud too and it’s also beautiful. I’m just wondering why the photo is different.

jowie

Tama ka, I never been there but Im pretty sure na alang ganun sa Pagudpud.

Hay! Sarap talaga byumahe d2 sa Pinas. Among the destinations mentioned, I only got to visit two: Caramoan & Vigan!

Caramoan – i went there with my workmates in Mister Donut, long before it was discovered by local & foreign tourist. I am proud to say that Im from CamSur, I actually spent my childhood in an Island (Quinalasag Group of Islands) in Garchitorena, Cam Sur. It is just a 2-3 hour boatride to Caramoan.

Vigan is so wonderful place to visit, its heritage and culture is exceptional! Namimiss ko tuloy adventure ko sa Vigan, Paoay at Laoag!

Iba pang napuntahan ko (di nabangit) ay ang Bagasbas Beach in Daet, Cam Norte, Calaguas Group of Islands, also in Camarines Norte.

I really love to travel but for now, my time wouldnt permit, hehe. Ingat po kayo and have fun!

jowie

Try to visit also Laiya Aplaya Beach in San Juan Batangas. According to my friends, it is better than Puerto Galera (pls see Casa Remo Apartelle, don’t be mislead by its name, hehe, We stayed there at sulit ang experience) Eto pla contact nos ng Casa Remo (02-631-0475/0920-9326077)

ur one of the top 3’s coron?

Excuse me, but are you sure na nagpaalam ka sa mga photographer before you used their photos?

bella

Caramoan is nice but overrated. Almost no infrastructure and vandalism on the rock formations in Matukad. Been there last weekend. Guimaras is okay. Often overlooked, but not really a must go ifyou can help it. Mount Pinatubo is gorgeous,Anawangin,Capones, Camara is not.Pundaquit is a major rip off. Trash everywhere even on the beach and hotels are unreasonably priced- will never go back there ever again. Pagudpud is beautiful, but comparing it to Boracay is a misnomer- it has issues of garbage as well, almost no infrastructure at Maira-ira and Pansian, and the waters have steep drops and a bit dangerous for kids at Saud which can also have big waves during the rainy season. Sand quality wise, Boracay still wins, but Pagudpud has the upper hand when it comes to lesser tourists- not until Holy Week when there is bad traffic going to Maira-ira. Taal Volcano is beautiful as well and accessible, but getting cheap but well-appointed accommodations in Tagaytay are still a problem. Tawi-tawi is apparently really beautiful- if one has the chance to go to the 7 islands of the Turtles Islands on the Philippineside (Malaysia has 3), grab it. You fly into either Sandakan or Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, from Sandakan you can catch a speedboat to Taganak the entry point to the more beautiful Philippine side of the Turtle islands – plenty of island hopping, stunning beaches, mud volcanoes and of course turtles! The cost is expensive, if you go the route Manila/Clark-KK-Sandakan-Taganak route – it can really burn a hole in your pockets. Other routes – Manila-Zamboanga-Sandakan-Taganak or Manila-Zamboanga-Bongao-Taganak.

I think Camarines Norte has a lot of really good islands – check out the Mercedes Group of Islands and Calaguas. The islands in Mercedes has pine trees as well, but with white sand beaches not unlike Anawangin which turns into a dump during long weekends.

Anonymous

Those are not pine trees at Anawangin. They are Agoho trees. Anawangin is nice unlike what xrx said. The lighthouse closeby is historic although run down but the pictures you take there are very dramatic most specially during a sunset. Vandalism should stop because they are our own heritage sites. I would like to go to Tawi-tawi one day only if its safe to drop by. Very difficult to assume safety because its such a remote place to visit and if you enter through Malaysia and happen to get kidnapped in the Philippines, well, good luck to you.

Agoho is Queensland swamp oak – but they are similar to conifers as well- and they are pine-like in appearance and is found all over the Philippines not just in Anawangin. I beg to disagree, with Anonymous above me. I went to Anawangin, Capones and Camara last weekend of May. People dig holes on the beach on Pundaquit and dump their trash in them. It is not safe to walk barefoot as we saw a lot of broken glass. In Capones and Camara, trash are washed up the shore, and at the middle of the island in Capones, we did a short hike through an abandoned building (which we think is a major hazard because it looks like it is going to collapse anytime). We encountered more trash along the trail – candy wrappers, flip-flops, cigarette butts, broken glass- and this is everywhere on those places. We thought Anawangin was great- until we got there. Too many campers around with blaring music, plastic bags of trash everywhere, waters too murky and unswimmable. The boat ride was too expensive for a small boat and 3 places. PhP 1500 for 2 people – for PhP 1400, we were able to go to 15 islands in the Hundred Islands on a much bigger boat. Our hotel, supposedly the better one in Pundaquit (Canoe Beach Resort) – the pool area was very noisy, kids running amok on wet tiles with no lifeguards, our A/C wasn’t working, the shower wasn’t working and the check in took ages, the food was bad, expensive and there was hair on my sinigang. I think the only saving grace of that area was those waterfalls nearby.

The lighthouse on Capones was nice, but I think Cape Bojeador Lighthouse was heaps better- plus it is way older, and the area cleaner (I was in Ilocos in June). The cliffs of Capones was nice, until you look down and see a lot of trash down at the bottom. Unlike most travel photos, Anawangin’s sand is NOT white. We will not be back there again and we have told a lot of people now not to ever go to that big freaking ripoff of a place. Unless people starts cleaning up Pundaquit, Capones, Camara and Anawangin, and treating their visitors right, that area would be a major letdown for first time visitors. And it is very important too that travelers to the area should be able to dispose their trash properly.

Just telling the truth. As a frequent traveler, I do not want to be led to believe something nice but in reality wasn’t.

Ruela

May be we should also place Puerto Princesa’s subterranean river in the top 3 must-visit list. It’s really a wonder! My family is planning to visit there, if finances permits…

On May 31, 1985, tragedy struck when 41 tornadoes hit Canada and the US, leaving 76 people dead. At the same time, a doomed couple in the Philippines were having the best orgasms of their lives. Nine months (280 days) later, a healthy baby boy was brought into this world by normal delivery. That was exactly a week before Microsoft had its initial public offering.
