Try to visit Lake Sebu in SOCSARGEN.., try to imagine serenity at the top of a 2500 foot mountain lake,to enjoy the full area, dont miss to take tha state of the art cable car and “bangka ride”..you will surely enjoy peace/calmness,fresh local grown good food (but cheap), friendly locals.

After enjoying a night or 2, make a side trip to to POLOMOLOK. along the road, you will enjoy the freshness of locally grown fruits(buko, langka, manga, lanzones, mangosteen, rambutan,kasoy,Dole-Pineapples/Bananas, chiko, pomelo, durian and a lot more..

30 minits from Polomolok, you will reach General Santos. prepare to indulge your-self for a fresh seafood feast…ENJOY…!!!!

May be we should also place Puerto Princesa's subterranean river in the top 3 must-visit list. It's really a wonder! My family is planning to visit there, if finances permits...

Agoho is Queensland swamp oak - but they are similar to conifers as well- and they are pine-like in appearance and is found all over the Philippines not just in Anawangin. I beg to disagree, with Anonymous above me. I went to Anawangin, Capones and Camara last weekend of May. People dig holes on the beach on Pundaquit and dump their trash in them. It is not safe to walk barefoot as we saw a lot of broken glass. In Capones and Camara, trash are washed up the shore, and at the middle of the island in Capones, we did a short hike through an abandoned building (which we think is a major hazard because it looks like it is going to collapse anytime). We encountered more trash along the trail - candy wrappers, flip-flops, cigarette butts, broken glass- and this is everywhere on those places. We thought Anawangin was great- until we got there. Too many campers around with blaring music, plastic bags of trash everywhere, waters too murky and unswimmable. The boat ride was too expensive for a small boat and 3 places. PhP 1500 for 2 people - for PhP 1400, we were able to go to 15 islands in the Hundred Islands on a much bigger boat. Our hotel, supposedly the better one in Pundaquit (Canoe Beach Resort) - the pool area was very noisy, kids running amok on wet tiles with no lifeguards, our A/C wasn't working, the shower wasn't working and the check in took ages, the food was bad, expensive and there was hair on my sinigang. I think the only saving grace of that area was those waterfalls nearby.

The lighthouse on Capones was nice, but I think Cape Bojeador Lighthouse was heaps better- plus it is way older, and the area cleaner (I was in Ilocos in June). The cliffs of Capones was nice, until you look down and see a lot of trash down at the bottom. Unlike most travel photos, Anawangin's sand is NOT white. We will not be back there again and we have told a lot of people now not to ever go to that big freaking ripoff of a place. Unless people starts cleaning up Pundaquit, Capones, Camara and Anawangin, and treating their visitors right, that area would be a major letdown for first time visitors. And it is very important too that travelers to the area should be able to dispose their trash properly.

Just telling the truth. As a frequent traveler, I do not want to be led to believe something nice but in reality wasn't.

Those are not pine trees at Anawangin. They are Agoho trees. Anawangin is nice unlike what xrx said. The lighthouse closeby is historic although run down but the pictures you take there are very dramatic most specially during a sunset. Vandalism should stop because they are our own heritage sites. I would like to go to Tawi-tawi one day only if its safe to drop by. Very difficult to assume safety because its such a remote place to visit and if you enter through Malaysia and happen to get kidnapped in the Philippines, well, good luck to you.

I think Camarines Norte has a lot of really good islands - check out the Mercedes Group of Islands and Calaguas. The islands in Mercedes has pine trees as well, but with white sand beaches not unlike Anawangin which turns into a dump during long weekends.

Caramoan is nice but overrated. Almost no infrastructure and vandalism on the rock formations in Matukad. Been there last weekend. Guimaras is okay. Often overlooked, but not really a must go ifyou can help it. Mount Pinatubo is gorgeous,Anawangin,Capones, Camara is not.Pundaquit is a major rip off. Trash everywhere even on the beach and hotels are unreasonably priced- will never go back there ever again. Pagudpud is beautiful, but comparing it to Boracay is a misnomer- it has issues of garbage as well, almost no infrastructure at Maira-ira and Pansian, and the waters have steep drops and a bit dangerous for kids at Saud which can also have big waves during the rainy season. Sand quality wise, Boracay still wins, but Pagudpud has the upper hand when it comes to lesser tourists- not until Holy Week when there is bad traffic going to Maira-ira. Taal Volcano is beautiful as well and accessible, but getting cheap but well-appointed accommodations in Tagaytay are still a problem. Tawi-tawi is apparently really beautiful- if one has the chance to go to the 7 islands of the Turtles Islands on the Philippineside (Malaysia has 3), grab it. You fly into either Sandakan or Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, from Sandakan you can catch a speedboat to Taganak the entry point to the more beautiful Philippine side of the Turtle islands - plenty of island hopping, stunning beaches, mud volcanoes and of course turtles! The cost is expensive, if you go the route Manila/Clark-KK-Sandakan-Taganak route - it can really burn a hole in your pockets. Other routes - Manila-Zamboanga-Sandakan-Taganak or Manila-Zamboanga-Bongao-Taganak.
