Nigel Barker visits Manila. And Ayn, Dohna, Tez, and I were there to show some hospitality and lovin’. If Nigel Barker doesn’t ring a bell, OK, let me tell you that he’s a celebrity photographer and the British bashing (and dashing) judge on America’s Next Top Model. I actually didn’t know he was here until Dohna sent me a text message forcing me to go to Greenbelt with her. And being the kaladkarin that I am, pumayag naman ako despite the rain and very humid atmosphere. While at the train station, we came across Tez who was about to go home but we managed to do a little brainwashing on her. The program was less than an hour but it was very, very substantial. Nigel made a lot of sense and imparted several useful practical tips on fashion photography. And not to mention he was cute. At least his lips were.
I’m being a glutton nowadays. I eat a lot. I usually find myself craving for something. Two days ago, I was desperately wanting sandwiches. And yesterday, while having lunch with Shiena, Luke, and Helen (my friends from Ateneo review classes), I was crazy over sausages. Yes, sausages — food. Not the other thing you have in mind. Though I wasn’t able to have sausages for lunch yesterday, I got a bunch in the evening. Yum yum. And lately, I’m always hungry.

When Tonet and I were having dinner (or should I say partying — there were already several beer and vodka bottles on the table) with Direk Joyce Bernal, Rudy Fernandez, Lorna Tolentino, Philip Salvador, Tirso Cruz III, a couple of actor-senators (kilala nyo na kung sino), and some of Direk’s staff, Direk Joyce suddenly talked about the sex scandals (videos) she had seen on a friend’s cellphone. It was really awkward because I’m not the type of person who talks about sex with other people, especially with big stars like them. Direk was already a bit drunk. She narrated exactly what happened in the video — in detail.
There was a drunk Japanese girl, then the man shoved a finger up the girl’s pussy. Then there were two fingers. Three. And then the entire hand…
BANG. That was it. She was bluffing, I thought. Upon hearing it, I thought it was just an exaggeration. I didn’t believe Direk. How could an arm fit in a girl’s you-know-what. So I went home and shrugged it off.
Months lates, while in the office and had run out of anything else to do, the thought entered my mind again. So, I searched the net. To my surprise, it is true. A hand (and sometimes, a pair of hands) can actually fit inside that thing. And some women enjoy this extreme sexual act. In fact, they have a word for it — fisting.

Yeeha! I’m back to the civilised world at last! I terribly missed the polluted air, the congested streets, the irritating noise, and the violent jolt of cosmopolitan Manila. Whew. I’m back! But not for long. Tomorrow morning, off to Matabungkay Beach Resort in Batangas again. In case you didn’t know, I didn’t spend my entire January at a resort just to have fun. It’s work, baby. Work.
Damn. I missed Manila so much. Sooo much. And of course, what did I do the moment I arrived? I met up with my college friends. Gosh! Some people just don’t change. Hehe. And then, I went online, and geeked out. Do you know how awful it felt when I hadn’t touched a mouse for a month? Awful. Awful! Last night, we went to Sidebar Cafe and had a few rounds of booze. Damn. Zombie tasted really good! In Matabungkay, I only had beer every other night. It was nice to drink every other night but I needed to taste something else. And God knows how that glass of zombie quenched that thirst last night. Uhmmm. I just got home from an afternoon of shopping and coffee drinking, and watching a film. It was also my first time to enter a movie theatre in a month. I watched Babel. I like it but I really think that 21 Grams is way, way better than this. I will publish a decent review later.
I missed Manila. But it’s funny that I want to go back to Matabungkay asap, because believe it or not, I miss that place now. I miss the free meals, billiards, tennis, the beach, the sunsets, and my hotel room. And I miss the kids.
I’ll be back on the 16th to take care of the documents I would be needing for the Foreign Service Exam. And I will not work until June.
See you guys, soon.

Taken at the UP Cinema Yule Ball 2006 held last December 16, somewhere in Mandaluyong. Of course, that pretty Chinese lady with me was my date that night, Maw. She was also my date at last year’s Christmas Ball. Click here to view our photo at the Ball one year ago.

My entry for today actually has nothing to do with the picture on the left. I just promised Dohna (that crazy-looking woman in the pic) that I would upload it on my blog so here goes her pic. It was taken at the Cinemanila Young Cinema whatever that was held in Glorietta some time last month. Unfortunately, Dohna and Glenn (that i-don’t-know-how-to-describe-him-properly guy in the pic) didn’t win. “One-Man Show,” their college thesis, lost to a lengthy Landbank promotional material…. Oh! That was a FILM?!? Seeeeesh, alright, they lost to a lengthy film.
Dohna is one of the closest friends I got right now. One reason is proximity. We live in the same area… well, not really, but I know you get the point. And it makes sense. I’m geographically close to her. And whenever I feel bored and have nothing to do, I would just text her to meet up with me and she would just appear from a puff of smoke. Yeah, like magic.
As a matter of fact, Dohna, Astrid and I had dinner together last night. Our topic of discussion was pretty interesting: first impressions. It all started when I admitted to Astrid that my first impression of her was not really good. It’s not good at all that I won’t even mention it here. And then we reminisced and thought of the first impressions we had of our college friends. Here are my first impressions of some of my friends:
So there. Some of them turned out to be accurate. Some were just plain wrong. Most changed over time. But I’m sooo glad that once in my life, I met them regardless of my initial impressions of them.
