What’s All the Racket?

An officemate accused me of loving Miroslav Klose (football/soccer player) just because of my sheer lust for him. I told him that I didn’t even find Klose sexy. He’s cute, aright? But my love for him is so beyond his physique. (But I wouldn’t mind having Klose for a night. Gawd, I’m daydreaming again.)

If there is one guy in sports that I really find incredibly hot, he’s not kicking a ball around the field. He’s smashing a ball with a racket. Another officemate asked me who it was. This was my answer:

If you don’t know him, poor you. Hehe. I would like to write something about him in my own words but it seems like sloth is getting the better of me, so I just copied this from his Wikipedia entry:

Marat Safin (born January 27, 1980) is a Russian former World No. 1 tennis player of Tatar ethnicity. Safin began his professional career in 1997 and held the No. 1 world ranking for 9 weeks in November and December of 2000. He is known for his good looks, large physical size, athleticism, controversial antics, and aggressive “power” style of play. He is fluent in Russian, English and Spanish.

Safin’s greatest accomplishments are winning the 2000 US Open (defeating Pete Sampras) and the 2005 Australian Open (defeating Lleyton Hewitt). Safin also helped lead Russia to davis Cup victories in 2002 and 2006.

The Next King of Denmark

He is the heir apparent to the Danish throne. He is the son of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Consort Henrik. He is (His Royal Highness) The Crown Prince Frederik Andre Henrik Chistian, the next king of Denmark. And he is the hottest prince alive. As far as I’m concerned. Haha.

Yep, for me, Crown Prince Frederik is hot. (I actually find him more attractive than Prince Harry and Prince William of Wales, though he’s way older.) Prince Frederik was born on May 26, 1968. Hmm. That makes him 39 years old. If he becomes king, he will be known as King Frederik X of Denmark.

I’m not really a fan of European royalties (or any royalty for that matter) but there’s something about this prince that is fascinating. I just can’t figure out what it is really. Whatever it is, he’s fascinating and I love him. Haha. He was educated privately, but he also studied at Harvard University for a period of time. He married an Australian commoner, Mary Elizabeth Donaldson, in 2004. I actually admired the Prince even more when she chose to tie knots with a commoner whom he met while attending the 2000 Sydney Olympics. I can still remember how glued my eyes were on the TV screen watching CNN’s coverage of their wedding in Copenhagen, live. I just loved (and still love) seeing him and hearing news about him and his wife and children. I love the couple. They look good together. And it’s one beautiful family.

Soon, I will post here on this blog the top 10 men that I want to meet before I die. Don’t be surprised if you see Prince Frederik’s name on the upper half of the list.

Oh, did I mention? It’s his birthday today. Happy Birthday, Prince Frederik of Denmark!

Nigel Barker and Sausages

Nigel Barker visits Manila. And Ayn, Dohna, Tez, and I were there to show some hospitality and lovin’. If Nigel Barker doesn’t ring a bell, OK, let me tell you that he’s a celebrity photographer and the British bashing (and dashing) judge on America’s Next Top Model. I actually didn’t know he was here until Dohna sent me a text message forcing me to go to Greenbelt with her. And being the kaladkarin that I am, pumayag naman ako despite the rain and very humid atmosphere. While at the train station, we came across Tez who was about to go home but we managed to do a little brainwashing on her. The program was less than an hour but it was very, very substantial. Nigel made a lot of sense and imparted several useful practical tips on fashion photography. And not to mention he was cute. At least his lips were.

I’m being a glutton nowadays. I eat a lot. I usually find myself craving for something. Two days ago, I was desperately wanting sandwiches. And yesterday, while having lunch with Shiena, Luke, and Helen (my friends from Ateneo review classes), I was crazy over sausages. Yes, sausages — food. Not the other thing you have in mind. Though I wasn’t able to have sausages for lunch yesterday, I got a bunch in the evening. Yum yum. And lately, I’m always hungry.

My Good Friday Glory

As part of my usual visita iglesia, I visited the Caleruega chapel in Nasugbu, Batangas. I thought it would just be another Good Friday but hell, it was better than any Good Friday in my life. Haha. What’s the reason? It’s not really what. It’s who. Dennis Trillo. Yep, Dennis Trillo was there in the same chapel as I was, saying his prayers with us.

Dennis Trillo is one of the most important actors of his generation. Tez Cruz and Kriz Gazmen will surely agree with me. But if our claim is not enough, there are a number of awards to support this. Anyway, I’m not posting this entry just because I saw him last Holy Week. Nah. I’m a fan (but not as huge a fan as Kriz who believes that Dennis is the centre of the solar system). In fact, I’ve always told Andre that the most beautiful face in local showbiz industry today is Dennis’s. And Andre usually blocks that statement in our conversation by saying “Oh, but he’s short,” which is true.

I remember Dennis’s first significant role: Bea Alonzo‘s love interest on the short-lived youth-oriented series K2BU. And then, as Luis Alandy‘s bestfriend in a Claudine Barretto starrer teleserye “Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan.” The next thing I knew, he signed a contract under GMA7, although I didn’t like the idea, I thought it was a pretty wise move. The second guy in Mulawin. Angel Locsin‘s leading man in Darna. One of Majika‘s lead stars. The gorgeous Super Twins’s mentor. And not to mention his cross-dressing gay guy role in Aishite Imasu, which made the critics see that he’s not just a popular actor but a good one, grabbing awards one after another. And oh, he’s now a recording artist, too!

Dennis has come a long way from doing tiny roles to being one of the most popular male stars in showbiz. And with that intense sex appeal and good looks, matched with pure talent, he’s surely here to stay.

Have you noticed that Dawn Zulueta rapidly becomes one of the most sought-after product endorsers in the country? Waah! I’ve been seeing a lot of her lately. Pantene. PH Care. Myra 300 E. Marie France. Wow. This woman must be a lot richer now. I just can’t get enough of Dawn. She looks so amazing. The perfect face of a happy woman. She’s so refreshing in spite of her age. In fact, she’s never been this beautiful. (No, I’m not promoting her age-defying shampoo.) But really, don’t you just love her?

I saw her in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya with Maja Salvador. And I was as surprised to see her getting more and more effective and powerful as an actress.

And yep, for me, she’s a Certified Hottie.

The recently crowned Binibining Pilipinas – Universe Anna Theresa Licaros has always been a scene-stealer. Back in college, we both were members of UP Broadcasters’ Guild. It’s just that she was a sort of inactive member when I was pretty active so I wasn’t really close to her. Tere was a summa cum laude (of the batch before us), and if I’m not mistaken, the college valedictorian that year. During the coronation night, she continued to put everyone in awe. After grabbing most of the special awards, she blew the last piece of sanity away from me with her very impressive answer to a judge’s question. Whew. And if that’s not enough, she’s a law student. Hot or not?!

Next on my Certified Hotties list is someone I always see on TV, Oli Pettigrew. If you have no idea who the hell he is, let me give you a picture:

The first time I saw Oli was just last year when he hosted the World Cyber Games in Singapore. Since then, I’ve been seeing a lot of him as he hosts Animax Channel‘s Technomax where he features newly-released gadgets, and some techie stuff. I’m an anime lover, hence an Animax Channel addict. But since he got the job of hosting a segment shown almost every other commercial break, there’s no switching channels. I’ve been searching for pictures of him all over cyberspace but I only found a few and this one is probably the best, haha. I got this pic from olipettigrew.com. However, I think this was ripped off of a Singaporean magazine Female. If you can’t read the text below his pic, it says, Oli was born in Hong Kong, schooled in the UK, and loves people with sense of humour. Oh, he’s a blogger, too.
