Top 5 Facebook Pet Peeves

Mashable created a list of 20 annoying things people do on Facebook and most of them do not even bother me. I don't mind being bombarded with food porn; if anything, it gives me ideas on what to have for dinner or lunch. I don't mind seeing 10 consecutive vanity shots on my feed. I don't mind frequent check ins on GetGlue or Foursquare. Surprisingly, I have learned to not mind being tagged on marketing images; I just simply untag myself after. I guess I'm just the type who doesn't get annoyed easily or maybe, after years of Facebook-oriented work, I've grown immune to them. Yet, I clearly … [Read more...]

Media These Days and Christina Aguilera

Here's Us Weekly's misleading article.

Media these days. I don't understand the hate and shade that have been thrown by the entertainment press towards Christina Aguilera. I know that media thrives in controversies but I can't believe they will go this far or this low to spin stories or create something out of nothing. It is absolutely disgusting. Take a look at what DailyMail.co.uk just did. Spanish magazine DT decided to use an old photo of Christina Aguilera for the cover of their latest issue. This photo was shot for the promotion of Not Myself Tonight back in 2010. And YES, she was so skinny in 2010. But that's not the … [Read more...]

I Prefer It Free, Sorry

massage therapy

The other week, my self-esteem was crushed by a small piece of paper. I was fixing my bag outside a convenience store in Tagaytay City when somebody gave me a piece of paper with a short note on it. Without looking at the stranger and the paper, I pocketed the note and expected the guy to leave me alone. Unfortunately for me, he was there for business. "Massage, sir? I can massage you, sir, while you're here in Tagaytay," the stranger said. "No, thanks," I declined. "I'm on my way back to Manila." I was still busy trying to put all the pasalubongs into my backpack. "I also do … [Read more...]

You Can’t Shoot What You Don’t See

MAGKARIBAL teleserye

I realized just how difficult it was to hold back a cringe when a cousin’s friend told me how she despised local films and television shows in general. I asked her why and all she could say was a very specific, “They’re just so bad.” I admit that many of our movies and TV shows are disappointing and some are downright disgusting. But I believe that we still have a lot of quality shows. I asked her which TV shows in particular she found unsatisfactory. She replied, “Our teleseryes are pretty bad.” “Which teleseryes?” I was curious. “Our teleseryes. All of it.” … [Read more...]

What’s Up, Doc? Really, What’s Up?

burning tummy

This happened more than two years ago. But it's still pretty clear in my head. June 2009. It was the time when I was constantly having serious digestion problems. Sometimes, my digestive system would not do its job dissolving food while other times, it would just overdo it. I finally had enough so I decided to see a doctor.   Together with my hubby Shy Guy, I went to a hospital near my office. (Clue: it's somewhere in Mandaluyong.) We approached the reception desk and said what we were there for. The woman at the desk then told us to proceed to a clinic upstairs. We fell in … [Read more...]

What Goes Around Comes a-Round

yoshke in cebu

And I have come 'round. Like, really round. Last weekend, I was in Cebu for the fifth time. While preparing for this trip, I checked out photos from my very first time in Cebu in 2009.  And so, to see just how much I have changed and how "round" I have grown over the past two years, I decided to wear the same shirt and planned to have a pic taken at the same spot. And the result? I remember a conversation with a friend. Friend: Kung ikaw ay alak, ano ka? Yoshke: Ginebra. Bilog na bilog. WAAAAAAAAAAH!!! I WANT MY MOMMY!!!!!!! … [Read more...]

ABS-CBN’s New Lupang Hinirang Video: Where is Negros?

negros missing abs-cbn lupang hinirang video

This morning, ABS-CBN launched their new Lupang Hinirang video. As usual, Kapamilya stars participated in this effort. The video was produced by Star Cinema. To be honest, I love it. I'm not sure whether I love it better than the previous version but this one was well-shot, well-executed. I also liked that it's short and simple. The only comment I have is this: On the map of the Philippines shown at the end, where the hell is the Negros Island? I'm sure it was just an oversight but I hope that they fix it asap. After all, Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental are major players in … [Read more...]

Resentment Grows Heavier

Dang it.

When I was in college, every time I stepped on the weighing scale, I'd pray, "Dear God, sana tumaba-taba naman ako kahit konti." Now, every time I do that I say, "OH GOD, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!" Dang it!  #MustLoseWeight … [Read more...]
