Note that this is a personal list. These songs may be those that affected me immensely, became an anthem of a certain period of my life, or just personal favorites.

70. All Saints – Never Ever
I love All Saints. I was at the front line on All Saints’ side during the height of their rivalry with Spice Girls (although I liked Spice Girls, too). Never Ever is not my fave song of theirs; it’s actually Bootie Call but that’s hardly a love song. Haha.
Coke used this song as their jingle at one time. They tagalized this and the lyrics were like, “Ang sarap kasama ng pamilya, lalo pag may Coca Cola…” I adored that TV commercial, too.
Also listen to: Black Coffee, All Hooked Up, Bootie Call, I Know Where It’s At, Pure Shores
69. Kavana – Will You Wait for Me
Well, I’m a pop music fan so that should be reason enough for you why I like this song. When my ex-girlfriend passed away, I was reminded of this song because the time we were together, this song was so popular. And that makes it unforgettable.
The days went by so quickly,
cos I thought you’d always be there.
It’s hard to let you go,
though I know that I must try.
I feel like I’ve been cheated,
cos we never said goodbye.
By the way, where the hell is this guy now?

68. Ronan Keating – When You Say Nothing at All
I also like Alison Krauss’s version of the song but the most memorable rendition for me is Ronan Keating’s. Blame Notting Hill for that. Haha.
The smile on your face
Lets me know
That you need me
There’s a truth
In your eyes
Saying you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
You’ll catch me
Whenever I fall
You say it best
When you say
Nothing at all
There’s just something about this record that makes me feel good. And boy do I relate to this song now. *blushing*

67. Gary Valenciano – Paano
Entering a relationship is hard but ending it is a lot harder. That’s what this song is about: how to break up with the person you once loved.
Yakap, yakap ko siya
dahil luha’y dagling dadaloy
ngunit paano ko sasabihin ito.
Puso’y tiyak na masusugatan
kaya ba niyang maunawaan
paano ko sasabihin ito
Ayaw ko mang saktan
ang kanyang damdamin
Ngunit kailangan malaman
Sana’y matapos na
Ngunit kahit nais
ko man pilitin
‘Di na kayang ibigin
Sa ‘yo sinta na
Puso’y ari na ng iba

66. Damien Rice – Volcano
If telling someone you don’t love him/her anymore was Gary V’s problem, he should’ve asked Damien Rice how. Although Volcano isn’t about lovers parting ways, it attempts to send a heartbreaking message across, too — and oh, in a mesmerizingly poetic manner.
And what I am to you
Is not real
And what I am to you
You do not need
And what I am to you
Is not what you mean to me
You give me miles and miles of mountains
And I ask for the sea
God, I love Damien Rice.

65. Rod Stewart – Have I Told You Lately
I never liked this song until it was used in What a Girl Wants (starring Amanda Bynes, Colin Firth and Oliver James). I realized how romantic the song was, it awakened the dormant hopeless romantic in me.
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you theres no one else above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles thats what you do
And it’s just so romantic. Oh yeah, I already said that.
64. Stevie Wonder – Lately
Well, Im a man of many wishes
Hope my premonition misses
But what I really feel my eyes wont let me hide
cause they always start to cry
cause this time could mean goodbye
Doubts, suspicions, fear. The right ingredients for a song that could get me hooked. I’m not really a Stevie Wonder fan but this song is a wonder.
63. Ella Fitzgerald | Frank Sinatra – My Funny Valentine
This song is just so funny yet romantic. And the melody is the kind that would reside in my head forever.
My funny valentine
Sweet comic valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable
Yet youre my favorite work of art
Matt Giraud’s version is also good.
62. Lifehouse – Blind
I’m a big Lifehouse fan. (But I missed their concert here, gaaah.) They’re never absent in my playlist but the one Lifehouse song that really got me was this one. I did some research and it turned out that Blind was Jason Wade’s song for his father who left him. But then, like most good songs, you can interpret it differently.
After all this time, I never thought we’d be here
Never thought we’d be here when my love for you was blind
But I couldn’t make you see it, couldn’t make you see it
That I loved you more than you’ll ever know
And part of me died when I let you go
To me, it’s about a man who has been making his love felt and seen. Although the song clearly described his love as “blind,” I don’t think it’s his love that is really blind. It’s the woman he is singing to as supported by “But I couldn’t make you see that. I love you more than you’ll ever know.”

61. The Goo Goo Dolls – Without You Here
I just super love this song. 🙂
Your love’s a gathered storm I chased across the sky
A moment in your arms became the reason why
And you’re still the only light that fills the emptiness
The only one I need until my dying breath
And I would give you everything just to
Feel your open arms
And I’m not sure I believe anything I feel
And now, now that you’re near
There’s nothing more without you
Without you here
